News and Notes - Bush Breaks Leg, Roethlisberger Out for Opener

Louisville running back Michael Bush has broken his leg and ended his season. Nice action shot of the actual tibia snapping above.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is out for Thursday night's season opener against the 'Fins and possibly longer after having emergency surgery for an appendectomy. Charlie Batch gets the start in week one, no word on how long Big Ben will be out.

Chargers LB Steve Foley shot three times in front of his casa.

No one hurt on this one, but Ron Dayne is supposed to sign wit da Texans.

i dont think he can red shirt if he already played a game.... am i correct situ or phil. cause doesnt that mean u burn the redshirt if a game is played. if that is the case he will rehab like all kings have to (me) and go pro either 2nd or 3rd. i thought he could have been a heisman hopeful...well looks like that is out of the picture. and pete u are crush the turtle

what Bush could apply for is medical redshirt. Basically each athlete is supposed to get four years of eligibility, so if one year is lost for whatever reason, riding the bench freshman year or for medical reason, athlete can get an extra year. Medically it's not always guaranteed. Better explained here
