Speeder's AFC South

The Colts are still the frontrunner in this division. In the off-season they lost more than they gained. Edge James was far more than a running threat. The Colts play-action was essential and without James it wont work. That means six men in the box to stop Dom, five men in coverage. The D also didn’t improve. They can withstand enough for Indy to win, but late in the season they will give. Indy will miss James most late in the season when a tough run game or stellar D is vital.

The Jags offense will struggle do to a lack of weapons. Leftwich and Freddy Taylor will both get hurt, Maurice Jones-Drew and Greg Jones will have to carry the offense. You thought the Bills had bad receivers, Jags got Matt Jones (a 2nd receiver at best) and Reggie Williams, who is a 4th option at best. Mercedes Lewis will immediately be their lead receiver. The D is still tough. Mike Peterson is solid, and they have mammoth DT’s. I think they will miss da post-season.

I think the Texans can be a surprise. David Carr finally has weapons in Domanick Davis, Andre Johnson, Eric Moulds, and Jeb Putzier. The O-line should be better and the D is also better. Mario Williams and DeMeco Ryans should contribute immediately. They are weak at safety though. The Texans should run better thanks to Gary Kubiak and his zone scheme. They also have Kyle Shanahan as their receiver coach.

The Titans are slowly on their way back to the top. Vince should start soon, Chris Brown, LenDale, and Travis Henry can easily carry the load. Drew Bennett, David Givens, Erron Kinney, and Ben Troupe are a good enough receiving crew for Vince. They also added Mawae so Phil should be happy if ya naw mean. They boast a young but promising D. The projected starters average only 25 years old!!!! If nothing else, they have Jarrett Payton.

Predictions for AFC South:
1. Indianapolis Colts
2. Jacksonville Jaguars
3. Tennessee Titans
4. Houston Texans
